Post from to WordPress

Subscribed to from my WordPress blog through OpenMicroBlogging I have managed to add this blog as a subscriber to my account. This means that I can post directly from (or any other application that supports OpenMicroBlogging (OMB) protocol, such as to my blog.

To achieve this I wrote a plugin that uses the power of XRDS-Simple plugin to generate Yadis document which specifies the location of OAuth and postNotice, as required by OMB (see A modified version of WP-OAuth plugin takes care of OAuth 1.0 dance (for the initial authorization and all the update notices) and adds support for receiving updates from the listenee (any application on your phone, for example).

Why This is Unique

It allows posting directly to your blog from any of the (twitter like) applications, and these updates are pushed to your blog in real time, just as if your blog was one of the users subscribed to your updates.

This could be very useful for live blogging. You could use all the tools which can now post to — SMS, Jabber/Gtalk, e-mail and various desktop and mobile apps — to publish on your blog.

And with OBM everything happens (almost) instantaneously as opposed to RSS which has to be polled.

Any chance that you’ll publish this plugin? I’m currently investigating which microblogging solution would be best for my own needs.

  2. Hi Kaspars, Thanks for replying. I’m not sure yet how I’m going to solve my microblogging needs, but your solution still seems pretty interesting. If I decide that I like to do the same, I’ll let you know. I’m glad you’re willing to share.
