# Social Networks and Vlogging in 2014

This [overview of the social networks used by teenagers](https://medium.com/backchannel/a-teenagers-view-on-social-media-1df945c09ac6) these days made me wonder if people will ever appreciate owning their own domain and website; if we can build a social network using the distributed nature of the web (the [IndieWeb](https://indiewebcamp.com/))? And then [BBC Radio 4 had a segment on the “new” trend of vlogging](http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04wwqcr) which is making people rich.
